PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- As the recovery process from severe March and April flooding nears the five-month mark, disaster assistance has surpassed $100 million for aid to individuals, businesses and local communities in the seven Commonwealth counties of Essex, Bristol, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk, and Worcester.

Portsmouth, N.H. -- With only days left until the Monday July 12 disaster registration window closes, recovery officials made a final appeal to residents with uninsured disaster-related damage or loss in the seven disaster-designated Commonwealth counties to register for assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Officials said FEMA toll-free registration lines and its dedicated internet site will be available at regular hours throughout the weekend period for last-minute applicants, continuing through close-of-business, 10 p.m. (EDT) Monday.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- As Massachusetts's spring flood recovery passed the three-month mark, newly released official totals give a much clearer picture of the widespread damage and loss caused by record rainfall that swamped large areas of Eastern and Central Massachusetts during the latter half of March and most of April. The current total of 37,025 applicants and more than $90.9 million in approved assistance is on track to nearly double the Bay State's 2006 Mother's Day event where total disaster aid exceeded $55 million.
