ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- State and federal officials announced yesterday that additional communities have been added to the June 11 federal disaster declaration resulting from the April 28 to May 31 flooding and ice jams. The amended declaration is the result of a request by the State following continued damage assessments.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- More than $235,000 in federal assistance has been approved for Alaskan residents to help them recover from the 2009 spring floods and ice jams announced officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Alaska Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (DHS&EM). On June 11, 2009, the President declared a disaster declaration for the State of Alaska to address damages from the spring flooding and ice jams in designated areas.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Alaska Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (DHS&EM) are urging public officials to apply for assistance under the FEMA Public Assistance Program to help pay for public infrastructure repair. Officials from both agencies are currently visiting communities to brief officials on the Public Assistance Program.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently announced a disaster declaration to help state, local and tribal governments, including Alaska native villages, as well as certain private nonprofits, such as educational and medical facilities, recover from eligible losses incurred during the 2009 spring flood event along portions of the Yukon and Kuskokwim Rivers. Governor Sarah Palin requested a presidential declaration May 25, after determining that the severity and magnitude of the damages to publically owned infrastructure warranted federal aid.
