MOORHEAD, Minn. -- To date, nearly $12 million in Public Assistance (PA) grants has been approved for 28 Minnesota counties affected by spring floods. Additional grant applications are being processed.

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- As Minnesota rebuilds after spring floods, more than $5,367,000 is being processed for payment to eligible applicants in 28 counties to reimburse the costs of Public Assistance (PA) projects.

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- One-fourth of all businesses that close because of a disaster never reopen, according to the Institute for Business and Home Safety. But businesses that have a disaster preparedness plan - and implement it - typically have less damage, loss and downtime than those that do not.

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota residents and business owners who live in the seven counties designated in the April presidential disaster declaration have only two weeks left to apply for federal disaster assistance. Tuesday, June 9 is the last day to apply with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for Individual Assistance. The designated counties are: Beltrami, Clay, Marshall, Norman, Polk, Traverse and Wilkin.

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Federal disaster officials know one thing for certain...they cannot stop disasters, but they can show residents cost-effective ways to reduce future disaster damages. Teams of hazard mitigation specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) visit home-improvement stores in Polk County next week to offer tips and answer questions residents may have about protecting their homes.

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Moorhead will be closed on Sunday and Memorial Day, and will reopen next week for its last few days of business. "Nearly 900 residents have visited our Moorhead DRC during the past five weeks, and we encourage anyone who needs assistance to visit the center during its last days," said Federal Coordinating Officer Michael H. Smith. "We also remind residents that they can still apply for assistance or inquire about their applications online or by calling FEMA's toll-free number."
