BISMARCK, N.D. – Protecting your home and your bank account from the ravages of flooding is the main item on the agenda at the Community Mitigation Workshop 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at the VFW Club, 138 E. Main St., Valley City. On hand to discuss flood maps, flood-fighting home improvement projects, benefits of flood insurance, possible funding sources and other issues will be Valley City Administrator Jon Cameron, mitigation experts from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and a loan specialist from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

BISMARCK, N.D .- Federal aid in housing grants, disaster loans and direct federal assistance mission assignments now stands at $42.7 million, the Federal Emergency Management Agency reported today. As part of the $42.7 million, FEMA has obligated $24.48 million in 46 Mission Assignments to other federal agencies, including $15 million to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for removing temporary flood protection measures, such as earthen levees, sandbags and flood protection products.

Bismarck, N.D. -- North Dakota residents who have been affected by the flooding that began on March 13 can now visit a Disaster Recovery Center in Fessenden, where representatives are available to help answer questions about assistance. The center is operated by the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services (NDDES) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Wells County Disaster Recovery Center's operational hours will be Monday through Saturday  9 a.m. - 7 p.m. and closed on Sundays. The center is located at:

Bismarck, N.D. - Disaster Recovery Centers across the state of North Dakota will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. All North Dakota Disaster Recovery Centers will resume usual business hours (Monday - Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. local time, and closed on Sundays) on Tuesday, May 26. FEMA's registration line and helpline will remain open on Memorial Day to assist residents. The line has new operational hours beginning Monday, May 18. The hours are 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. CDT, or 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. MDT.
