HONOLULU, Hawaii -- Federal disaster assistance for City and County of Honolulu residents and businesses affected by the Dec. 10 through Dec. 16 storms and flooding is now $1.088 million. The assistance is in the form of grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). To date, 480 homeowners, renters and business owners have applied for disaster assistance.

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Filipino Community Center in Waipahu will close at the end of business Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. Three other DRCs remain open to serve Oahu residents affected by the severe storms and flooding of Dec. 10 to 16, 2008.

Hawaii -- As the recent severe weather system leaves the islands, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Hawaii State Civil Defense would like to remind those affected by the Dec. 10-16 flood event of the Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) opening Saturday, Jan. 17. DRCs will be op0en at four locations, six days a week until further notice. The DRC hours will be 12: p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays (Monday-Friday), and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturdays.

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- In the week since the federal disaster was declared recovery assistance to residents of the City and County of Honolulu has reached more than $400,000 in approved funds. To date 234 applicants have registered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), as a result of the severe storms and flooding Dec. 10-16, 2008.

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Hawaii State Civil Defense will open Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in affected communities across Oahu beginning Saturday, Jan. 17. ?The DRCs will provide face-to-face assistance to those suffering damage from the severe storms and flooding that occurred between Dec. 10 and Dec. 16, 2008. DRCs will be open at four locations, six days a week from Saturday, Jan. 17th until further notice.?Hours will be from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays (Monday ? Friday), and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturdays.?

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- Residents in the City and County of Honolulu who sustained losses or damage from the severe storms and flooding Dec. 10-16 are urged to register for disaster assistance by calling the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) tele-registration number, 1-800-621-3362 (FEMA) or for the hearing or speech impaired TTY 1-800-462-7585. On line registration is available at www.disasterassistance.gov.
