SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Federal and Commonwealth recovery officials announced today that more than $23 million in disaster aid has been approved for Puerto Rico residents in the form of grants to cover damages related to severe storms and flooding which occurred from September 21 to October 3, 2008.? SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials announced today, that the Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC's) in the municipalities of Pe?uelas, Villalba, Santa Isabel, Guayama and Las Piedras will cease operations at the close of business Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. The DRC's have served residents and businesses affected by the severe storms and flooding from September 21 to October 3, 2008 and are located at:

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Property owners who purchase flood insurance now can reduce future financial losses such as those suffered during the recent severe storms and flooding starting September 27 through October 3, 2008.? In Puerto Rico, many residents are unaware that their homeowners insurance does not cover flood damage. Flooding is the most common and most costly type of natural disasters in the Island and the United States. Having flood insurance coverage can make a huge difference when facing the need to make repairs and replace items following a flood.?

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Recovery officials of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that the period to apply for disaster assistance has been extended to January 15, 2009. Residents of the designated municipalities affected during the severe storms and flooding of September 21 - October 3, 2008 are encouraged to apply for disaster aid.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today, that the Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will close at noon on Wednesday, November 26, in preparation for the Thanksgiving Day Holiday. Operating hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. DRCs will resume operations on Friday, November 28, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, until further notice.
