IBERIA PARISH, La. -- Community parks offer families a place to retreat from the busyness of everyday life and enjoy healthy, outdoor fun. When Hurricane Gustav damaged Iberia Parish parks, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) and local officials realized the parks' importance and worked together to repair the parks as quickly as possible for all to enjoy again.

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) recently announced several million dollars in reimbursement funding to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) for their activation of emergency protective measures related to Hurricane Ike.

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently announced that it will provide Plaquemines Parish millions in public assistance funding as reimbursement for repair work done to one of its non-federal levees - the Citrus Lands Levee, which helps protect property owners from flooding in the Plaquemines' communities of Ironton and Pointe Celeste.

IBERIA PARISH, La. -- The Port of Iberia, which provides the nation with access to the Gulf of Mexico and imports and exports a wide variety of tonnage from gas and oil pipes and supplies to agricultural products, has recently received funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) for repair work to several of its Gustav-damaged facilities.

Hurricanes Gustav and Ike hit the state of Louisiana in September 2008. Since that time, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and its state and federal partners have worked together to help those affected by the storms recover. Here is an update on the services and assistance they have provided since the hurricanes struck. Unless otherwise noted, all data is as of close of business March 11, 2009. 70,247 households were eligible for FEMA assistance following Hurricane Gustav.
