NEW ORLEANS -- In support of mitigation measures following Hurricane Gustav, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced today nearly $7.9 million for the elevation of 45 homes in Terrebonne Parish. These properties have sustained multiple flood losses and received numerous claims through the National Flood Insurance Program and/or have been declared substantially damaged during Hurricane Gustav.

NEW ORLEANS – In support of mitigation measures following Hurricane Gustav, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced today nearly $7 million for the elevation of 43 homes in Terrebonne Parish. "This funding will help assist residents wishing to better protect their homes against future flooding," said FEMA's Louisiana Recovery Office Deputy Director of Programs Andre Cadogan. "Home elevations such as these are just one of several smart mitigation measures supported by our Hazard Mitigation Grant Program."

NEW ORLEANS – The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently announced more than $19.2 million in federal aid for two schools in Cameron Parish. This recent FEMA funding includes approximately $17 million to rebuild Johnson Bayou High School in Cameron, La. Storm surge flooding associated with Hurricane Ike destroyed the K-12 school. The new permanent facility, which is currently under construction, is expected to have 100 students once finished.
