McALLEN, Texas -- Homeowners, renters and business owners in three Texas counties who suffered damage or loss as a result of Hurricane Dolly now can register for federal and state disaster assistance. Individual Assistance was added for Cameron, Hidalgo and Willacy counties after a review of damage assessments, according to officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Texas Governor's Division of Emergency Management (GDEM).

Following is a summary of key federal disaster aid programs that can be made available as needed and warranted under President Bush's major disaster declaration issued for Texas. Assistance for the State and Affected Local Governments Can Include as Required: Payment of not less than 75 percent of the eligible costs for emergency measures taken to save lives and protect property and public health, limited to direct federal assistance.? WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today announced that federal disaster aid has been made available for Texas to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area struck by Hurricane Dolly beginning on July 22, 2008, and continuing.
