MIDWEST CITY, Okla. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announce new operating hours for the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Ottawa County, beginning this coming weekend. ?In addition, it was announced that the DRC will cease operations at the close of business on Saturday, June 21, 2008. New weekend operating hours for the center will be from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and closed on Sunday until further notice.

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. -- Federal, state and U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster aid approved for Oklahomans affected by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding this spring surpassed $1.3 million this week, state and federal disaster recovery officials announced. The following has been provided for applicants in Craig, Latimer, Ottawa and Pittsburg counties to help them recover following the disaster that occurred May 10-13:

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. -- State and federal disaster assistance is now available in Kingfisher County for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that occurred April 9 - 28. The funds, which are provided on a cost-sharing basis through the Public Assistance program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, are available to state and eligible local governments and certain nonprofit organizations.

Individual Assistance - Dollars Approved

Individuals & Household Program (IHP): Provides money and services to people in Presidentially declared disaster areas.

Housing Assistance (HA): Provides assistance for disaster-related housing needs.

Other Needs Assistance (ONA): Provides assistance for other disaster-related needs, such as furnishings, transportation, and medical.

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards

*Dollars Approved: Assistance dollars approved but not necessarily disbursed.

*Dollars Obligated: Funds made available to the State via electronic transfer following FEMA's final review and approval of Public Assistance projects.
