SALEM, Ore -- Just weeks ago, the land behind the Vernonia City Hall was piled high with rubble from the December 2007 flood. Now the property is groomed, utilities are in, and the site is ready to welcome 21 new mobile homes. At 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 10, Glen Sachtleben, the federal coordinating officer for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will be on site to thank the Vernonia land owners and the City of Vernonia for their collaborative efforts to make the mobile home park a reality.

SALEM, Ore. -- The Vernonia Disaster Recovery Center operated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will remain open until further notice, but representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will leave as of close of business today, Feb. 22. The Disaster Recovery Center continues to operate in the Vernonia City Hall, 1001 Bridge Street, Vernonia, OR, 97064, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

SALEM, Ore. -- Disaster assistance monies continue to increase in Oregon for those affected by the December 2007 storms and now total $15,840,000 (fifteen million, eight hundred forty thousand dollars), according to officials with Oregon Emergency Management, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

SALEM, Ore. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that the deadline for returning the National Flood Insurance Program Proof of Loss statement has been extended 60 days. A Proof of Loss is a signed statement that substantiates the insurance claim. It includes a detailed estimate to replace or repair the damaged property. The Proof of Loss must be signed before the flood insurance program or insurance company can make payment.
