MERRILLVILLE, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have announced that a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will open in Hammond on Saturday to assist residents who suffered damage from severe storms and flooding that occurred in the area Aug. 15-27. In addition, the mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) serving multiple Lake County locations is coming to more cities near you. Another DRC is already open in Gary. (Complete DRC list is attached.)

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. -- Even if you've already received an insurance settlement for damages sustained in the severe storms and flooding of Aug. 15-27, 2007, officials urge Lake County residents affected by the disaster to register with FEMA. Many area residents were devastated to learn their losses, in some cases damage to basements, crawlspaces and their contents, were not covered by their homeowners insurance. These losses may be covered by federal and state disaster assistance under the recent presidential disaster declaration.

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. -- The Indiana Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that a mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) serving various Lake County locations will make a two day stop in Dyer to assist residents who suffered damages from severe storms and flooding that occurred in the area from August 15-27. The mobile DRC will be at the Dyer Town Hall, One Town Square, Dyer, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, December 10-11 before moving on to other county locations.
