WACO, Texas -- Five days remain to register for assistance for Texans affected by Tropical Storm Erin during the period of August 14-20, 2007. ?Recovery officials urge homeowners, renters, business owners, and private non-profits who sustained losses to register for assistance now, if they have not already done so.

BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas -- During man-made and natural disasters, the Freeport Fire and EMS Department is designated as the Emergency Operations Center and the Freeport Police Department as the Incident Command Post for the city of Freeport and several surrounding cities. After years of the tedious task of boarding up the buildings to secure them during impending disasters, the city applied for and received a grant to install hurricane shutters.

WACO, Texas -- The Mobile Disaster Recovery Center (MDRC) located at the BCD Building at 52 SW 5th St. in Hamlin will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7.? More than 250 residents have visited the Hamlin MDRC so far.? Assistance is still available to Texans affected by Tropical Storm Erin, even after the MDRC closes. Individuals who have questions or need to register can still do so by calling FEMA's toll-free help line at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).

WACO, Texas -- Federal disaster aid distributed to Texans affected by Tropical Storm Erin has reached more than $4.7 million, the Governor's Division of Emergency Management (GDEM), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced today.  As of Oct. 31, FEMA and the SBA have approved more than $4,707,584 in disaster aid.

p>WACO, Texas -- Officials from the Governor's Division of Emergency Management (GDEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) urge Texans affected by Tropical Storm Erin during August 14-20 to make sure they apply for all the federal assistance for which they may be eligible. To apply for disaster assistance, call FEMA toll-free at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- or hearing-impaired. Applications also may be made on-line at www.fema.gov. The registration deadline is December 3, 2007.
