NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Mobile Recovery Center staffed by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) located in Jamaica, Queens is extending its hours of operation to include Sundays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to assist homeowners, renters, and business owners who suffered damages from the August 8 storm and flooding. The deadline to apply has been extended to November 16, 2007.

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- A denial letter from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) sent to some Queens and Brooklyn homeowners, renters and business owners who suffered losses from the August 8 storms and flooding may not mean they are ineligible for assistance. "A denial may mean that FEMA does not have all the information needed to make a decision regarding the applicant's disaster aid," said Federal Coordinating Officer Marianne C. Jackson of FEMA. "Remember that this first letter may not be the last word."

NEW YORK, N.Y.? -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has joined with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to staff a Recovery Center in Rego Park, NY, for residents affected by the August 8 storms. The new center opens on Thursday, October 25. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday thru Friday, and closed on weekends. The SBA-FEMA center is located at the Lost Battalion Hall in Queens, where FEMA staff and SBA customer service representatives are on hand to assist.? NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The deadline for Queens and Brooklyn homeowners, renters and business owners to register for federal-state disaster assistance has been extended to November 16, state and federal recovery officials said today. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the New York State Emergency Management Office (SEMO) extended the deadline because of concern for people who suffered damages from the August 8 storm, but who still have not applied for assistance.
