FEMA publications provide helpful information about what to do before, during and after a flood in order to decrease the toll such disasters take on lives and property.

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- State and federal officials have approved more than $7.2 million in disaster grants and low-interest loans for homeowners, renters and business owners who suffered damages during the August 8 severe storm and flooding. NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The damage caused by flooding this past August 8 resulted in Brooklyn and Queens being designated official disaster areas. Are you prepared for the possibility of a flood coming into your home or business? With some relatively simple steps, you can protect your property and decrease the potential for destruction and expense. Making your building more resistant to flood damage, technically called mitigation, can help you withstand future flooding events. And flood insurance can help you recover after a flood.

Friday, November 16, is the last day to register for disaster assistance.

The deadline to register has been extended to November 16, 2007. The following is a summary of activities as of close of business on November 1, 2007: 3,596 households and business owners registered for assistance.

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Homeowners, renters, and business owners who suffered damages from the August 8 storms and flooding have two weeks left to register for disaster recovery assistance. Friday, November 16 is the last day to register. "We don't want anyone with disaster damages to miss this opportunity for federal and state assistance," said Federal Coordinating Officer Marianne C. Jackson of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). "The first step is to register and find out what you are eligible for."
