ROCHESTER, Minn. -- Flood recovery aid continues in southeastern Minnesota nine weeks after a presidential disaster declaration Aug. 23; however, a survey of victims found widespread misinformation about flood insurance according to officials of Minnesota Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Many victims stated they were told that flood insurance was unavailable because the property was in or out of the floodplain, or that the community was not eligible.
