WACO, Texas -- More than $50 million in Public Assistance (PA) funding is now obligated to fund more than 3,391 projects declared eligible for assistance to state agencies, tribal and local governments, and certain Private Non-Profits in 72 counties, more than one-quarter of all Texas counties.

Disaster Wrap-Up: Federal Disaster Aid To Texans Tops $88 Million For Summer Severe Storms And Flooding
WACO, Texas -- Federal disaster aid distributed to Texans affected by June 16 - Aug. 3 severe storms, tornadoes and flooding has reached more than $88 million, the Governor's Division of Emergency Management (GDEM), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced today. As of November 12, FEMA and the SBA have approved more than $88,630,462 million in disaster aid.

TAYLOR COUNTY, Texas -- Buying flood insurance is a smart thing to do to protect your home, business, family and financial security from flood losses. A community needs to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) before its residents are eligible to buy the federally-administered coverage, which features uniform rates nationwide. The town of Merkel, Texas recently joined the NFIP program, after parts of it flooded this summer.

WACO, Texas -- Some Texans affected by severe storms and flooding during June 16-August 3 may receive a letter from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) saying their application for disaster assistance has been denied. "A denial letter does not necessarily mean that an applicant is not eligible for assistance," said Federal Coordinating Officer Kenneth Clark. "It may mean that FEMA does not have all the information needed to make a decision regarding the applicant's disaster aid."
