ALBANY, N.Y. -- Kind-hearted New Yorkers affected by the April nor'easter should not forego registering for disaster assistance just because they think it will keep the assistance from reaching their less-fortunate neighbors. Federal and state officials assured New Yorkers that there is enough disaster assistance available for all who qualify.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Disaster Recovery Center in Mamaroneck (DRC) will convert to a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Center on Monday, June 11. The Disaster Recovery Center, located at the Town Center Senior Nutrition Community Center, 740 West Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck, is open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., until this Saturday, June 9.  Once it reopens on Monday, June 11 as an SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center, the hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The State and federal Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) located outside Congressman Vito Fossella's District Office at 4434 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY 10312 will convert to a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Center on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 and be located inside the building on the second floor. The DRC is currently open from noon to 8 p.m. weekdays. Once converted to an SBA loan outreach center, the hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- The deadline to register for a state/federal program that provides assistance to individuals who are unemployed or lost income because of the April nor'easter is rapidly approaching, disaster officials said today. State Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith said, "The filing deadline is fast approaching so we encourage everyone who became unemployed as a result of the spring flooding in these six affected counties to apply for unemployment insurance or Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA)."

ALBANY, N.Y. -- State and federal disaster assistance officials today said that some common misunderstandings about disaster assistance may deprive individuals of vital help from the state and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). "The last thing you need in a disaster is misinformation," said Federal Coordinating Officer Marianne C. Jackson. "The best way to avoid that problem is to call FEMA and register with us, and then visit a Disaster Recovery Center."
