COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Five clean up and repair projects for damages from January's severe winter storm totaling over $35 million have been approved by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These five projects in southwest Missouri are for debris removal and monitoring costs and repairs to damaged distribution systems of two electric cooperatives.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- As of April 17, more than $17 million has been obligated to the state of Missouri by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under its Public Assistance grant program for costs associated with the two severe winter storms that swept through the state. The $17,296,796 obligation represents the federal share of the cost of eligible work submitted for reimbursement to date by applicants throughout the declared jurisdictions.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- An army of workers in dump trucks, skip loaders, backhoes, knuckle boom trucks and other equipment is scouring disaster-struck Missouri, clearing and disposing of more than 3 million cubic yards of debris left by the ice storms that hammered the state in this winter.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- At the request of officials with the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) yesterday extended the deadline to March 1, 2007, for the state, local governments, and certain private non-profit entities affected by the January 2007 ice storm to apply for FEMA's Public Assistance program.

COLUMBIA , Mo. -- Additional federal disaster aid will be available for infrastructure repairs in 25 Missouri counties hard hit by the January ice storm, disaster recovery officials said today. The counties eligible to apply for additional federal disaster assistance are: Barry, Camden, Christian, Crawford, Dade, Dallas, Franklin, Gasconade, Greene, Hickory, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, Maries, McDonald, Miller, Newton, Osage, Phelps, Polk, Pulaski, St. Clair, Stone, Webster, and Wright .
