COLUMBIA , Mo. -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) are partnering with local officials to help Missouri communities recover after the recent ice storms. "We know that the road to recovery can sometimes seem daunting," said Michael L. Karl, FEMA federal coordinating officer. "Our role is to work with our state counterparts at SEMA and to help local officials find the best and shortest route on the road to recovery."

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- At the request of officials with the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) yesterday extended the deadline to February 15, 2007, for the state, local governments, and certain private non-profit entities affected by the late 2006 winter storm to apply for FEMA’s Public Assistance program.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Although FEMA’s Individual Assistance program has not been approved for Missourians affected by the recent ice storms, other forms of assistance are available for those in need. The American Red Cross is taking the lead in this effort. Missourians with emergency disaster-related needs should call 1-866-GET-INFO (438-4636).
