HONOLULU, Hawaii -- A new Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will open in Hilo on Saturday, November 11, bringing the number of DRCs to four, State and Federal officials announced day. All four DRCs will remain open through Wednesday, November 15. The new Hilo Disaster Recovery Center will open Saturday, November 11, at the Pu'ueo Community Center, at Clem Akina Park, 145 Wainaku Street to serve individuals and businesses impacted by the October 15 Earthquake.

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- Telephone registration hours have changed to 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Hawaii Standard Time, seven days a week, State and Federal disaster-recovery officials announced today. The change is effective today, Monday, November 6. "The adjustment in hours for telephone registrations reflects a significant drop in the number of people who have been calling between 6 and 8 p.m.," said Ed Teixeira, state coordinating officer. "This is a strong indication that many of those who need to register for disaster assistance have already done so."

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- Inspectors from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are conducting damage assessments for homeowners and renters on the Big Island . This inspection is an important step in the recovery process and will help speed disaster assistance to those whose property was damaged by the October 15 Earthquake.

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- A new Disaster Assistance Recovery Center (DARC) will open on the Big Island, Hawaii, Wednesday, November 1, to serve individuals and businesses impacted by the October 15 Kiholo Earthquake . It joins two other DARCs that opened October 27. All three centers, located at the addresses below, will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. until further notice. WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that federal disaster aid has been made available for Hawaii to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area struck by an earthquake that occurred on October 15, 2006, and related aftershocks.
