NEWINGTON, N.H. -- New Hampshire residents who suffered damages from the May flooding and have not registered for assistance have just three days left to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The final day to register with FEMA and return the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) loan application is July 24, 2006.

July 18, 2006 - News Release

NEWINGTON, N.H. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced this week that a major milestone was reached in the FEMA-administered National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP): More than 5 million Americans are now protecting their homes with flood insurance.In New Hampshire, for all counties, a total of 6,804 flood insurance policies were in effect as of May 31, 2006.  The average statewide policy cost was $616 with the total state wide annual premiums amounting to $4,196,188.

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards

*Dollars Obligated: Funds made available to the State via electronic transfer following FEMA's final review and approval of Public Assistance projects.
