NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) recently announced more than $10.8 million in public assistance funding to the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) for Katrina-related damages at two of its New Orleans facilities. Of the recent funding, nearly $9.2 million was provided as a consolidated grant for the RTA’s Desire Parkway facility. This funding combines more than 20 grants into one, enabling the RTA to more quickly access recovery funds.

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Nearly four years after Katrina, the Robert E. Smith Branch of the New Orleans Public Library on Canal Boulevard has remained damaged and closed. In its place, a library bookmobile, followed by a modular library, have continued to service the community and children of the Lakeview area. Now, according to an announcement by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA), local residents can expect a brand new Robert E. Smith Library in their neighborhood to replace the old facility and the current modular library.

ERATH, La. -- While Rita-related repair work to restore Dozier Elementary School is currently underway, residents of Vermilion Parish may also notice a new addition to the school's campus.
