BATON ROUGE, La. -- Five weeks after Hurricane Katrina’s assault on the Gulf Coast, which was followed three weeks later by Hurricane Rita, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Louisiana Department of Homeland Security and Office of Emergency Preparedness (LOHSEP) continue to bring aid to the storms’ victims.

BATON ROUGE, La. -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Louisiana Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP) announced today that a second Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) is opening in Orleans Parish Tuesday, October 11, at 9 a.m. Thirty-one centers are now open in Louisiana to serve the needs of the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. All centers are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week until further notice, except for Plaquemines Parish, which is open 8 a. m.
