BATON ROUGE, La. -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security?s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that progress is being made in the inspection of homes damaged by Hurricane Rita. More than 400 FEMA-contracted inspectors are spreading out across parishes hard hit by this storm.

Baton Rouge, LA - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the State of Louisiana, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) are all working together in a push to provide temporary housing for all victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita who have been living in shelters since the storms.

BATON ROUGE, La. -- The National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team (DMORT) will assist state and parish coroners with personnel to provide technical expertise and oversight for recovery, documentation, and identification of human remains disinterred as a result of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. This assistance is made possible through an official request made yesterday (Oct. 11) by the State of Louisiana.
