NEW ORLEANS – Livingston Parish homeowners, business owners and business and residential renters who do not have flood insurance are encouraged to buy coverage now to get the best possible premiums before new flood insurance rate maps go into effect. The new Livingston Parish flood maps, which include all Livingston Parish communities, become effective on Tuesday, April 3. Those who haven't purchased flood insurance yet still have time to get the best possible premiums to protect their property from potential flooding.

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently announced approximately $11.6 million for interior renovations at five of Jackson Barracks’ Historic Garrison Buildings. “Serving as Louisiana’s National Guard Headquarters, Jackson Barracks was severely flooded during Hurricane Katrina,” said FEMA’s Louisiana Recovery Office Deputy Director of Programs Andre Cadogan. “More than 200 structures there were damaged and eligible for FEMA’s assistance.”

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced today approximately $2.1 million in additional funding to the Louisiana Office of Facility Planning and Control for Katrina-related repair work and mitigation measures at Southern University at New Orleans’ Leonard S. NEW ORLEANS – The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced today approximately $7.3 million in federal aid to the Cameron Parish School Board, as the public school system continues to rebuild following Hurricane Rita.

NEW ORLEANS – The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently provided $27 million in funding to the Archdiocese of New Orleans towards the construction of a new high school campus named Academy of Our Lady. FEMA’s recent grant gave the Archdiocese of New Orleans the necessary “green light” to move forward with their building plans. With FEMA’s financial aid now available to support the new school’s construction costs, the Archdiocese of New Orleans plans to build the new Academy of Our Lady High School within Jefferson Parish’s Marrero community.

NEW ORLEANS – The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced today a $9.7 million grant to the Plaquemines Parish School Board for the construction of a new, consolidated post-Katrina school—South Plaquemines Elementary School. FEMA’s recent grant comes mainly as consolidated funding, approving the local school board’s request to utilize federal dollars previously obligated for recovery work across several other Plaquemines’ school system facilities.
