MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- A Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Disaster Assistance Outreach unit will visit Gadsden on Saturday, February 4 through Thursday, February 9. The unit will be closed on Sunday, February 5. Hours on Saturday are 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The hours Monday through Thursday are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The five-day event will be held at the East Gadsden Community Center, 921 Wilson Ave. in Gadsden.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Alabama residents and business owners who suffered losses from Hurricane Katrina have just six weeks left to register for disaster assistance. March 11, 2006 is the last day to register through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). It is also the deadline for returning the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) loan application.

The hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The two-day event will be held at Hopeville Shelter, 2115 Bashi Rd. in Thomasville . A Disaster Recovery Specialist will be there to assist evacuees and Alabamians affected by Hurricane Katrina develop long-term housing solutions. Anyone needing Katrina housing assistance is invited to attend.

The unit will be closed on Sunday, January 29. The hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The three-day event will be held at Operation Restoration (Old Ramada Inn), 2300 S. Memorial Parkway in Huntsville.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved a total of $8,575,826 for Alabama State Port Authority to restore the levy/berm system protecting Gaillard Island on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay. The grant was awarded through FEMA’s Public Assistance (PA) program.
