INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Disaster victims throughout most of Indiana have just one day left to apply for disaster assistance before the 60-day application period ends tomorrow (March 22). Federal and state disaster recovery officials urge those residents and business owners in the 85 disaster-declared counties who sustained damage from the severe winter storms and flooding that occurred between January 1 and February 11 to apply as soon as possible.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Starke County has been added to the disaster declaration for public assistance (infrastructure) to include aid for local governments affected by the severe winter storms and flooding that began in January 1 in Indiana, federal officials announced today. This brings the total to 42 counties statewide that are eligible for infrastructure losses.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- With the March 22 application deadline just around the corner, more than 13,000 Hoosiers in the 85 disaster-declared counties have already called or gone online to apply for assistance since January 21 when President Bush issued a major disaster declaration for the state. More than $10.5 million in grants has been approved for nearly 8,300 claims that have been processed thus far, according to figures released today by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Indiana State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- A total $10.1 million in grants has been approved for assistance for 7,763 claims in Indiana since the disaster declaration on January 21, according to figures released today by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Indiana State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA). Disaster officials added that the number of approved claims is expected to rise as more Indiana residents apply for assistance in the final weeks of the application period. The following is an update of recovery activities as of close of business Thursday, March 3.
