HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Individuals in the process of repairing their flood-damaged homes and businesses can get additional help from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) mitigation experts where they shop for materials. The focus is on steps people can take to prevent future damage from flooding. Projects can include elevating a hot-water heater or furnace, anchoring a fuel tank, doing landscape stabilization and installing an interior or exterior foundation drainage system.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Homeowners, renters and businesses in seven additional Pennsylvania counties are now eligible for disaster assistance for damages or loss suffered as a result of flooding from tropical depression Frances on Sept. 8 and 9. The counties are Bedford, Butler, Erie, Huntingdon, Lawrence, Warren and Washington. This brings the total number of counties designated for tropical depression Frances to 10.

The additional counties are Elk and Potter. This brings the total number of counties designated under this disaster declaration to 56.

HARRISBURG, Pa. --Pennsylvanians who suffered damage or loss because of September's flooding have less than one month left to apply for federal disaster assistance. Nov. 18 is the last day to call the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) toll-free teleregistration number 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-621-7585 for the speech or hearing impaired. The lines are open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Registering online at www.fema.gov is another way to apply for assistance.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Federal and state disaster officials remind residents in 20 Pennsylvania counties of the Thursday, Oct. 21, deadline for filing Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) claims. To apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance, call 1-877-345-3382 Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The speech and hearing-impaired can call the TTY number at 1-888-344-4046. Have your Social Security number and earnings from your most recent tax year ready.
