SAN JUAN, P.R. -- The Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) located in the municipalities of Ciales and Fajardo will remain open through close of business Friday, December 17, 2004. The DRCs will be operating this week, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Disaster aid applicants visit the DRCs as an initial step to get general advice on their disaster aid application. As of December 12, 2004 more than 44,000 disaster aid applicants have visited the DRCs, which have been located in several municipalities throughout the island.

To date, over $384.6 million has been approved in federal disaster assistance to eligible applicants in the 58 declared municipalities. This aid included grants for basic needs, such as essential repairs, alternate housing and other disaster-related needs not met by insurance or other assistance programs. More than 205 thousand residents in the declared disaster area have applied for disaster assistance.

SAN JUAN, P.R. -- The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Aguada will remain open through close of business Friday, December 3, 2004. The remaining Disaster Recovery Centers located in Ciales, Fajardo and Santa Isabel will continue operations Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., until further notice.

SAN JUAN, P.R. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) officials announced that the Helpline continues available to those residents who registered for disaster assistance due to the aftermath of Tropical Storm Jeanne. On September 14-19, 2004 this storm caused extensive rains resulting in flooding, landslides and mudslides.

SAN JUAN, P.R. -- Only five days remain for individuals and business owners in the fifty-eight municipalities of Puerto Rico designated for disaster assistance to call and apply for federal aid due to the losses caused from the rains, flooding, landslides and mudslides in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Jeanne, which occurred September 14-19, 2004.
