ORLANDO, Fla. -- Okaloosa County in the Florida Panhandle has been added to the list of counties declared eligible for federal disaster assistance for individuals and households in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan. The assistance, to be coordinated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), can include grants to help pay for temporary housing, home repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses. Low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration also are available to cover residential and business losses not fully compensated by insurance.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that President Bush has ordered the release of all necessary federal disaster aid resources for Florida pummeled for the third time by a hurricane in little over a month.
