RICHMOND, Va. -- When the owners of a new Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar franchise considered opening in the historic Shockoe Bottom entertainment district of Richmond, they knew the area was prone to flooding. They made the decision to modify the building that was to house their new restaurant to make it flood resistant.
RICHMOND, Va. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that more than $10.1 million in federal disaster aid has been approved to date for government entities to help with cleanup and repairs after Tropical Depression Gaston struck August 30. “It’s difficult for individuals to recover from a storm, and it’s also difficult for localities,” said Marianne C. Jackson, federal coordinating officer for FEMA’s recovery effort. “This money will help offset the expenses that local governments and the commonwealth incurred during Gaston.”
RICHMOND, Va. -- Federal and state disaster officials announced today that more than $12.2 million in disaster assistance grants and loans has been approved for victims of Tropical Depression Gaston since the Sept. 3 presidential declaration. Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President
Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President
Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards
