EVERETT, Wash. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved a $57,566 Crisis Counseling Immediate Services grant for the Washington Department of Social and Health Services to pay for free counseling services in Skagit, Snohomish and Whatcom Counties. The program is aimed at assisting those who had their lives thrown into disarray and confusion by the severe storms and flooding, October 15-23, 2003.

EVERETT, Wash. -- Residents and business owners in the 15 disaster declared counties who sustained damage from the severe storms and flooding of October 15 - 23 have one month remaining to apply for disaster assistance. January 6, 2003 is the last day applications will be accepted. That is also the deadline for submitting loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for disaster-related losses to real and personal property.

EVERETT, Wash. -- Volunteer attorneys are providing free, disaster-related legal assistance to low-income individuals affected by the October 15-23 floods. The service, coordinated through the American Bar Association (ABA) Young Lawyers Division and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), is available by calling 1-800-467-0372.

EVERETT, Wash. -- Applications for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) will be accepted through Dec. 18, 2003. Individuals who are out of work as a direct result of the severe storms October 15 – 23, 2003, may be eligible for weekly benefit payments under the DUA program.

EVERETT, Wash. -- Individuals who suffered damages from the severe storms and flooding October 15 - 23, may be eligible for disaster assistance from the State of Washington, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA), even if they are insured .
