New Castle, DE -- Effective close of business Tuesday, September 30, the Sussex County Disaster Recovery Center will be permanently closed, state and federal recovery officials announced today. The Center is located at 100 Airport Road in Georgetown at the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center. A second Disaster Recovery Center located in New Castle County will continue to operate Monday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at St. Marks United Methodist Church on 1700 Limestone Rd. in Wilmington.

New Castle, DE -- One week after the disaster declaration, checks totaling more than $77,000 have been sent to residents who applied for state and federal disaster aid following the recent storms in Delaware, according to disaster recovery officials. Since President Bush declared New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties major disaster areas for damage from Hurricane Isabel and New Castle County a major disaster area from tropical storm Henri, 190 individuals have registered for various disaster aid programs.

Both Tropical Storm Henri, which hit Delaware on September 15, and Hurricane Isabel, which impacted the state on September 18, have received a federal disaster declaration from President Bush.

New Castle, DE -- Officials from the State of Delaware and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open two Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) to assist individuals who suffered losses from recent storms. DRCs will open in New Castle and Sussex counties on Thursday, September 25 at 9:30 a.m. Hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. until further notice and will be closed on Sundays. » Federal Aid For Delaware Hurricane Recovery Washington, DC -- The head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that President Bush has declared a major disaster for Delaware, opening the way for the use of federal disaster funds and emergency resources to help families and businesses recover from the effects of Hurricane Isabel.
