Raleigh, NC -- The deadline to apply for disaster aid stemming from Hurricane Isabel has been extended to December 8. "We are still getting hundreds of people registering every day," says Gracia Szczech, the official coordinating the federal disaster response. "We don't want anyone with uninsured damage to their home or business to miss the chance to register. That's why we are extending the deadline."

Raleigh, NC -- A total of $105 million in federal/state disaster aid had been approved through Tuesday, nearly eight weeks since President Bush declared the state eligible for federal disaster assistance immediately after Hurricane Isabel made landfall on September 18. Only five days remain for residents with uninsured losses from the hurricane and other storms to register for assistance. The deadline to register for uninsured damages caused by the hurricane is Monday, November 17.

Raleigh, NC-Only one week remains for residents to apply for state and federal disaster assistance to help them recover from Hurricane Isabel and the severe storms and flooding that ravaged central and eastern North Carolina during September 18th through 26th, 2003. The deadline to apply for assistance is November 17.

Raleigh, NC-Phone lines to register for disaster assistance as a result of damage from Hurricane Isabel will be open Tuesday, November 11, Veterans' Day. Veterans affected by the storm may be eligible for some additional benefits. All residents and businesses that had physical or economic damage as a result of Hurricane Isabel and other storms September 18-26 are encouraged to call and register for assistance at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech and hearing impaired.

Raleigh, NC -- North Carolina residents who have flood insurance from the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) now have an extra 60 days to file claims related to Hurricane Isabel. The extension applies to all NFIP-insured flood losses in the state from September 17 through September 19. For example, policyholders who had a flood loss on September 18, the day Isabel made landfall, now have until January 15, 2004, to submit their claim.
