RALEIGH, N.C. -- Only two weeks remain for residents to apply for state and federal disaster assistance to help them recover from Hurricane Isabel and the severe storms and flooding that ravaged central and eastern North Carolina during September 18th through 26th, 2003. The deadline to apply for assistance is December 8, 2003.

All along the North Carolina coast, individual homeowners and whole communities have increasingly realized the persistent threat to life and property posed by major storms and hurricanes. Weather forecasters began to realize that this region has come through several decades of relatively calm weather, and the future may bring damaging storms more frequently than seen in recent history.

RALEIGH, N.C. -- A total of $120 million in federal/state disaster aid had been approved through Tuesday, nearly nine weeks since President Bush declared the state eligible for federal disaster assistance immediately after Hurricane Isabel made landfall on September 18. Only 19 days remain for residents with losses from the hurricane and other storms to register for assistance. The deadline to register for damages caused by the hurricane is Monday, December 8.

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Residents and business owners in 47 central and eastern North Carolina counties who sustained damage during Hurricane Isabel or its aftermath have only three more weeks to apply for disaster assistance. December 8 is the last day applications will be accepted.
