Akron, Ohio - In the first month since federal assistance was authorized for flood losses in northeast Ohio, $20.5 million has been approved to help residents and businesses recover from the summer flooding, federal and state disaster officials announced today. The following assistance has been approved for those eligible in Carroll, Columbiana, Cuyahoga, Franklin, Jefferson, Mahoning, Medina, Monroe, Portage, Stark, Summit, and Trumbull counties:

Cridersville, OH -A Disaster Recovery Center will open in Westerville, in Franklin County on Tuesday, September 2, 2003 to assist residents affected by the recent flooding with their applications for federal and state disaster assistance. The center will remain open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., September 2 through September 6, 2003. The center in Westerville will be operated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Ohio Emergency Management Agency.

AKRON, OH- Ohio disaster registrants who suffered damage from the summer floods, severe storms, and tornadoes, and who have received a loan application from the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA), should take the time to fill out and return it- even if they don't want a loan, disaster recovery officials said today. The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Ohio Emergency Management Agency (Ohio EMA) joined SBA recovery officials in the appeal.

Akron, OH -- In recognition of the Labor Day weekend, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) toll-free line to register for federal disaster assistance will be closed on Sunday and Monday, August 31 and September 1. The line will reopen on Tuesday, September 2 and will take calls from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Cridersville, OH - The Disaster Recovery Center in Youngstown will close on Friday, August 29 and remain closed for the three-day Labor Day weekend, county, state and federal disaster officials announced today. When the center reopens on Tuesday, September 2, it will operate as a workshop for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
