June 9, 2003 - News Release

Springfield, IL -- The Disaster Recovery Centers operating in Metropolis and South Pekin will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 11. For those affected by the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that occurred May 6 through May 11 who still have questions about assistance or low-interest disaster loans, help is just a phone call away. Operators at the toll-free number -- 1-800-621-FEMA -- are available from 8.a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday to help with many of the questions that were brought to the recovery centers.

June 3, 2003 - News Release

Springfield, IL -- Tornado and severe storm victims in disaster-declared Illinois counties do not need to be concerned that their applications for assistance will reduce the amounts available for their neighbors. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), and voluntary organizations are providing a wide range of programs and services for those affected by the devastating weather of May 6 through May 11. Over 600 Illinois residents have already applied for disaster assistance.

Springfield, IL -- A total of $2,034,620 in grants and low-interest disaster loans has been approved for disaster assistance in Illinois since the Presidential declaration of May 15, according to figures released today by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).

Individual Assistance - Dollars Approved

Individuals & Household Program (IHP): Provides money and services to people in Presidentially declared disaster areas.

Housing Assistance (HA): Provides assistance for disaster-related housing needs.

Other Needs Assistance (ONA): Provides assistance for other disaster-related needs, such as furnishings, transportation, and medical.
