Miami, FL -- Residents living in the Miami-Dade County area who were affected by the severe storms and tornadoes that occurred on March 27 may be waiting to have their homes inspected by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) or insurance companies.

Miami, FL -- Less than a week after President Bush's declaration to assist those affected by the severe storms and tornadoes of March 27, nearly $950,000 has been approved for housing and other needs assistance. "We are working quickly to get funds into people's hands. We want them to be able to begin repairing their homes and replacing their lost property," said State Deputy Coordinating Officer Jim Hampton.

Miami, FL -- To further help individuals and businesses affected by the March 27 severe storms and tornadoes, the Florida Division of Emergency Management (DEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open a Disaster Recovery Center at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at the Caleb Center, 5400 NW 22nd Ave. (3 rd floor), Miami-Dade County. Center hours will be from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.

Miami, FL -- State and federal officials announce the operation of the Federal Emergency Management (FEMA) teleregistration line to assist those who have been affected by the severe storms and tornadoes that occurred on March 27, 2003. People who feel they are eligible for assistance can apply by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The teleregistration line is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.

Washington, D.C. -- The head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that federal disaster aid has been made available for Florida to help families and businesses in Miami-Dade County recover from the effects of a tornado that struck the area late last month.
