Jackson, MS -- Monday, June 23rd, is the last day for residents of Amite, Attala, Claiborne, Clarke, Copiah, Franklin, Hinds, Holmes, Issaquena, Jasper, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Kemper, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Leake, Lincoln, Madison, Marion, Neshoba, Newton, Pearl River, Pike, Rankin, Scott, Simpson, Smith, Walthall, Warren, Wayne and Yazoo counties to apply for federal and state disaster assistance under President Bush's disaster declaration of April 24, 2003.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Mississippi Emergency Management Agency recommend that every home have a NOAA Weather Radio receiver as standard equipment. These receivers are equipped with a special alarm tone feature that can sound an alert and give you immediate information about a life-threatening situation.

Jackson, MS -- June 23rd - only seven days away -is the deadline to apply for disaster assistance. Residents and business owners located in the 31 central and southwestern Mississippi disaster-declared counties and who suffered storm damage during the April 6th through 25th severe storms, tornadoes and flooding, must apply for federal and state disaster assistance by June 23, 2003, to be eligible for disaster aid.

Jackson, MS -- Disaster applicants in newly disaster-declared Jefferson Davis County who suffered damage from the April 6th though 25th severe storms, tornadoes and flooding, and who receive a loan application from the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA), should take the time to fill it out - even if they don't want a loan - urged disaster recovery officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA).

Jackson, MS -- State and federal disaster recovery officials issued these recovery assistance tips for residents of Jefferson Davis County who suffered uninsured or underinsured losses resulting from the April 6th through 25th severe storms, tornadoes and flooding. Jefferson Davis County was added June 6th to President Bush's original disaster declaration of April 24, 2003.

Disaster Aid Approved Tops $25 Million For Mississippians; Nearly 10,000 Have Applied For Assistance
Jackson, MS -- A total of $25,592,195 in federal/state disaster aid has been approved for residents of 31 central and southwestern Mississippi counties who sustained damages during the April 6th through 25th, 2003, severe storms, tornadoes and flooding. President Bush declared the counties disaster areas on April 24, at the request of Gov. Ronnie Musgrove. As of today, 9,813 Mississippians have applied for the various forms of federal/state disaster assistance.
