Charleston, WV - State and federal officials announced the opening of three additional Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC). Opening Thursday, April 3 will be the DRCs in Milton and Spencer. The Barboursville DRC opens April 8. These centers provide information to those affected by the damage and losses caused by the severe winter storm Feb. 16 and continuing. DRCs in Hamlin, Lincoln County, and Big Chimney, Kanawha County, remain open until further notice. All DRCs are open daily from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. All DRC offices will be closed Sunday, April 6.

Charleston, WV - The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) published a special edition of its disaster recovery newsletter to assist those affected by the damage and losses caused by the winter storm of Feb. 16 and continuing. Information on disaster recovery aid resources for individuals, households, government entities, nonprofit organizations and businesses of all sizes can be found in the newsletter.

Charleston, WV - Disaster assistance registration and Helpline days for the toll-free number, 800-621-FEMA, change Sunday to six days a week. The line will not be open on Sundays. Persons with hearing or speech impairments should call another toll-free number, (TTY) 800-462-7585, Monday through Saturday.

Charleston, WV - Inspectors from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other disaster assistance agencies are in the field as an important part of the recovery process for people affected by severe winter storms, record/near record snow, heavy rains, flooding and landslides that occurred Feb. 16 and continuing. "A FEMA inspector will call to schedule an appointment when you will be at home," Louis Botta, federal coordinating officer, said. "They are here to assist you, the applicant, and to move the process forward."

Charleston, WV - State and federal officials announce the opening of a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) on Thursday, March 27, in Big Chimney, Kanawha County, to assist those affected by the damage and losses caused by the severe winter storm Feb. 16 and continuing. DRCs also are open in Ripley, Hamlin and Lavalette. The Kanawha County DRC is located at 4782 Chimney Dr. in Big Chimney, off Route 119. All DRCs are open daily from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
