Dededo, Guam -- Monday, February 24 is the last day FEMA will accept disaster assistance applications from residents and business owners in Rota who sustained damage from Typhoon Pongsona. "We want people on Rota to understand that this is merely an application deadline," said Bill Carwile, federal coordinating officer. "For people who have already applied, their cases will continue to be processed, but we will not be accepting any new applications after February 24."

Dededo, Guam -- Super Typhoon Pongsona applicants on Rota who have registered for disaster assistance can expect a visit from a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) inspector and/or a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) inspector, or both.

Dededo, Guam -- The head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that disaster assistance has been expanded for Rota. In addition to assistance for infrastructure restoration already announced on Dec. 11, help is now available to eligible individuals, households or business owners who have suffered damage or losses caused by Super Typhoon Pongsona. This can help get people started back on the road to recovery.

Washington, D. C. -- The head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that President Bush has authorized federal disaster aid for the Northern Mariana Islands to support response efforts on the island of Rota hit by Super Typhoon Pongsona on December 8. FEMA Director Joe M. Allbaugh said the authorization was made under a major disaster declaration issued by the President following a review of the agency's analysis of the commonwealth's request for federal relief.
