Dededo, Guam -- Officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) began a two-week Applicant Assistance boat tour of the Outer Islands of Chuuk on Sept. 11th. The visits are being conducted to provide people affected by Tropical Storm Chata'an with a place to apply for federal help. FEMA currently has Disaster Recovery Centers in Chuuk taking disaster applications. Since it is difficult for people living on the outer islands to visit these centers, FEMA is bringing the floating Recovery Center to them.

Dededo, Guam -- The same day President Bush signed a disaster declaration for the Federated States of Micronesia, and less than 24 hours from the time the request was sent from the FSM President, the delivery of emergency medical supplies to Chuuk state was coordinated by a team of specialists from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Dededo, Guam -- Disaster Assistance has been expanded for Chuuk State to help those victims who suffered damage or losses caused by Tropical Storm Chata'an, the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today. Damage to Chuuk, one of the states in the Federated States of Micronesia, included extreme flooding, mudslides and landslides.

Washington, D.C. -- The head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that federal disaster funds have been made available for the Federated States of Micronesia to supplement emergency response efforts in the state of Chuuk hit by Tropical Storm Chata'an last week. FEMA Director Joe M. Allbaugh said the aid was authorized under a major disaster declaration issued by President Bush following a review of the agency's analysis of Micronesia's request submitted this morning for federal relief.
