Cedar Rapids, Iowa -- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) teams are working to identify and assist Iowa residents who sustained property damage from the severe storms and flooding that have plagued eastern Iowa since June 3.

Washington, D.C. -- Federal disaster aid was made available today for Iowa to help people and communities recover from a bout of flooding rains that hit the eastern part of the state earlier this month, according to the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Kansas City, MO -- President Bush today declared a federal disaster for 17 counties in Iowa. The 17 counties designated are Allamakee, Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Clayton, Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Fayette, Iowa, Jackson, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Muscatine, Scott, and Winneshiek. The declaration makes federal assistance available to eligible homeowners, renters, and business owners who sustained damage as a result of the storms and flooding.
