Washington, DC -- One month after the September 11 attacks at the World Trade Center and Pentagon, the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today emphasized the agency's commitment to assist all those affected for as long as there is need. "Over the past 30 days, the people of this country have shown great determination and strength," said Director Joe M. Allbaugh. "But there are still many people in need of help. We will continue to be with them every step of the way as they move forward with the challenge of putting their lives back together."

Washington, DC -- Senior FEMA Readiness, Response and Recovery officials met yesterday at FEMA headquarters with principal staff from the Department of Justice's Office for Victims of Crime, the Department of Labor, the Department of Health and Human Services' Center for Mental Health Services and the American Red Cross to discuss coordination issues in providing assistance to individuals impacted by the disaster.
