Houston, TX -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the State of Texas have advised the following holiday schedule for the Helpline services, in observance of the holidays. December 22 through 25: closed for the holiday December 31: open for service January 1: closed for the holiday Registrants may call a special Helpline at 1-800-525-0321 to update or check the status of their registration, or to receive additional program information. The hours of operation for the lines are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Houston, TX -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has obligated $1,133,824 to the State of Texas for repair and restoration of the City of Houston?s Wortham Theatre Building, pending compliance with program requirements. Tropical Storm Allison flooding damaged the building, furnishings and equipment.

Houston, TX -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has obligated $799,990 to the State of Texas for repair and restoration of the City of Houston's main communications system, pending compliance with program requirements. The damage is a result of Tropical Storm Allison flooding. Heavy rains, high winds and flooding in June of this year flooded the Houston Police Department basement, which houses the City of Houston main communications system.

Houston, TX -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today approval of a $15.3 million grant to the Harris County Flood Control District aimed at removing individuals and property from harm's way. The flood mitigation project, approved under FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), is designed to acquire and demolish substantially damaged structures at risk of future flooding in the City of Houston. All acquired parcels will be converted to open space.
