Olympia, WA -- Washington residents and businesses have received $129.7 million in recovery aid for damages caused by the Feb. 28 Nisqually earthquake, state and federal officials said today.Processing continues on assistance applications that were filed in accordance with the June 30 registration deadline. The 41,032 registrations from this disaster exceeds the combined total of all other previous Washington disasters, recovery officials said.

Olympia, WA -- Federal and state agencies report disaster recovery aid is more than $125 million for Washington residents and businesses following the Nisqually earthquake, February 28. Assistance totals increase daily as assistance applications continue to be processed after the June 30 registration deadline. The 40,920 registrations from this disaster is greater than all other Washington disasters combined, recovery officials said.The following information shows current total assistance numbers for the 22 declared counties and 24 Tribal Nations within the declared areas.

Olympia, WA -- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) registration numbers for the Nisqually Earthquake soared to more than 40,000 during the four-month registration period that ended June 30, said state and federal officials. Disaster assistance in grants and low-interest loans currently stands at more than $113 million.

Olympia, WA -- As aid approved to help Washington residents and businesses recover from the Nisqually earthquake tops $111.16 million, state and federal officials continue to urge disaster victims to call the FEMA registration number at 1-800-462-9029 (TTY 1-800-462-7585). The deadline to register is June 30, 2001.The following are highlights of the ongoing disaster response and recovery efforts since the Presidential disaster declaration on March 1, as of close of business June 27.

Olympia, WA -- On March 12, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) set up a Mitigation Helpline for people to get advice on how to make their homes and businesses more earthquake proof. The Mitigation Helpline can be reached at 1-800-838-7046. It is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will remain open beyond the June 30 registration deadline to assist those who have questions.

Olympia, WA -- The deadline to register with FEMA for Nisqually Earthquake--related damages is this Saturday, JUNE 30. Anyone living or working in the 22 disaster--declared counties who suffered damages from the Feb. 28 temblor has just six days to register for state and federal assistance. Officials urge residents to take another look through their property and to call FEMA right away if they feel they need assistance.
