May 23, 2001 - News Release

Little Rock, AR -- The FEMA/ADEM Disaster Field Office will close Thursday, May 31. It was established to administer assistance programs available to Arkansas residents and business owners in the 67 declared counties, as well as municipalities, state and local governments and certain eligible private non-profit entities, as a result of the Presidential disaster declaration on Dec. 29, 2000. The declaration was in response to damages and losses resulting from the ice storms beginning Dec. 12.

May 9, 2001 - News Release

Little Rock, AR -- Even though the fuel on the ground of forest lands across the state is up to ten times more than normal due to the December ice storms, Arkansas residents, because of early May rains, can rest a little easier that the threat of run-away wildfires has temporarily subsided.

May 1, 2001 - News Release

Little Rock, AR -- The Office of the Inspector General-Audits Division delivered the audit report on Disaster 1354 Arkansas/Pine Bluff to the Acting Director of FEMA Region VI Gary Jones on Monday April 30, 2001. A copy of this report was also forwarded to the City of Pine Bluff. Earlier last week Acting Central District Audit Manager Tonda L. Hadley, along with several federal and state officials, met with the mayor and other local officials and briefed them on this report.

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards
