ST CROIX, V.I. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved more than $182,000 for the U.S. Virgin Islands to reimburse a hospital, a school and a government agency for providing emergency protective services and to make repairs following Hurricane Lenny.

ST CROIX, V.I. -- The Disaster Field Office (DFO), where all of the FEMA and Territory disaster relief efforts are coordinated, will remain open through close of business on Saturday, December 18, 1999. It is an administrative office only. The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), located at the Sion Farm Commercial Center, Queen Mary Highway, will continue operating Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., until further notice.

ST CROIX, V.I. -- Like most Virgin Islanders, J.C. worries about hurricanes and has felt the devastating effects of these powerful storms more than once. Until now though, worry was all she could do, because like many of the hundreds of deaf residents of the Virgin Islands, she has had difficulty adequately preparing for and recovering from these disasters.

ST CROIX, V.I. -- Almost 3,000 Virgin Islanders have registered for assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), disaster assistance officials announced today. Two thousand seventy-two of the registrants are from St. Croix, one hundred nine are from St. Thomas and two from St. John. Four hundred fifty-nine households have received checks from FEMA worth $479,102.47. Inspectors are in the field continuing to verify damages reported by victims of Hurricane Lenny.

ST CROIX, V.I. -- In cooperation with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), a special post-flood workshop will be conducted on December 15, 1999 at the Florence Williams Library, 4950 Kings Street, Christiansted from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. The workshop is sponsored by the Lieutenant Governor's Division of Banks & Insurance.
