WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that President Clinton has declared Colorado a major disaster area because of damage from severe storms and flooding that began April 29. FEMA Director James Lee Witt said the President's declaration requested by the state makes federal disaster funds available to help meet the recovery needs of stricken residents and business owners in the counties of Bent, El Paso, Larimer, Otero and Weld.
